David Joseph Beattie Jr., 67, passed away August 30, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
Dave was born May 19, 1946 in Spokane, Wash., to David Joseph Beattie Sr. and Agnes Florence Schook Beattie. When he was a child his family moved to Laurel, Mont., where he went to school. He joined the Job Corps and they moved him to Price.
While in Price he met the love of his life Katherine Lee Schockmyer. They were married May 27, 1967 in Dragerton. In October of 1968 Dave and Kathy moved to Moab to work for Texas Gulf. In 1974 he started working for Jebco Construction and later Mega blue, and his last job was the maintenance man at the Gravel Pit Lanes until he retired.
Dave enjoyed hunting, bowling, working with hawks and fishing, which was his last big joy. He was also a member of the Interact Club.
Dave is survived by his wife Kathy of 46 years; a son Emil and a daughter Carol both of Moab; five sisters: Theresa (Bob) Stene, Lynn (David) Steiner, Darllene Rehling, Romona Craidhill, and Louella Jo (Less) Frank; four grandchildren and soon to be four great-grandchildren.
