Grand County High School’s students of the month for May are Linda Rae Minor and Joseph Andrew.
Minor, a senior, is the daughter of Kenneth and Lourae Minor.
Minor has been taking college classes while at GCHS, including personal financial planning and a psychology class. She plans to attend Utah Valley University after graduation.
While at GCHS, Minor has been involved in various activities and sports, including volleyball, basketball, and softball. She also has appeared in school musicals, played in the band, and was a member of the HOPE club, the National Honor Society.
Andrew is a junior. He is the son of Ray and Annalee Andrew. He says his favorite classes are honors English and advanced placement calculus.
At GCHS, Andrew has been involved with various activities, including soccer, cross-country, and track. He also appeared in the school musicals and has written for the school newspaper and played on the Quiz Bowl team. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA in high school.
Grand County High School’s Student of the Month program is sponsored by the local Elks Lodge under the direction of Frank Vaccaro. The high school coordinator is Richard Jenkinson. The students are also recognized by the Rotary Club and Grand County School District Board of Education. The program was started by the Elks to recognize students who were outstanding in the areas of character, leadership, service, citizenship and scholastic performance.
