Letter to the Editor: Remember Veteran’s Day on Sunday

Dear Editor,

Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 is Veteran’s Day.

On Oct. 31 everyone gets all dressed up, goes trick-or-treating and has parades and parties at school.

Thanksgiving day we get together with friends and family having big feasts and remembering what we are grateful for.

On Christmas, of course, whether Christmas or not, we celebrate with giving and parties.

Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 is Veteran’s Day, a day many overlook or forget.

In Moab we honor the veterans at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 on the front lawn outside the court house with a short ceremony.

This year the 11th is on a Sunday and you may usually be in church at 11 a.m., but may I suggest that we all gather that Sunday to honor and give thanks to our veterans. It would be a wonderful Sabbath Day lesson to hear for young and old alike.

I know for me it is an honor to take the time one day out of the year to remember, and thank those veterans who have sacrificed so much for all of us. This is one day that should NOT be forgotten. I’m sure our veterans have not forgotten it.

May God bless this country and all those who sacrificed and fought for our freedom.

Janeal Bly, Moab
