Margaret L. Hopkin Middle School has named two outstanding students for November’s Student of the Month honors: Hannah Hays and Kash McCandless.
Seventh grader Hannah Hays was selected for her academic excellence and strong character. Teachers describe Hannah as an exemplary student who completes every task promptly and produces high-quality work. She sets a quiet example for her peers and often helps classmates who are struggling.
Outside the classroom, Hannah is an accomplished mountain biker who has reached the podium in every race this season. She also enjoys skiing, baking, and building things. Hannah has three sisters and a beloved dog, and says her favorite food is her aunt’s peach pie.
Her advice to others: “Your most valuable thing in life is time. Don’t waste it—use it to help others, which will help you.”
Eighth grader Kash McCandless earned recognition for his dependable work ethic and positive attitude. His teachers say he’s a thoughtful, prepared student who participates confidently, masters his lessons, and stays humble. Kash’s favorite subject is math, and he’s active in the school’s swim program. He also plays piano and trombone.
Kash jokes that although he’s 5 feet 10 inches tall, his handwriting still could use improvement. His advice to classmates is simple: “Before you ask for help, try first.”
Congratulations to both Hannah and Kash!
