Fred Powell, a devoted family man, proud veteran, and respected leader in his field, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, service, and strength.
Born and raised in Utah, Fred graduated from Grand County High School in 1962. Committed to continuing his education, he went on to attend Stevens-Henager College, Utah Tech University, Dixie College, and Utah State University, pursuing studies that would serve him throughout his life.
Fred was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He served with distinction as the personal secretary to a colonel, a role that reflected both his professionalism and sense of duty.
After returning home, Fred built a long and accomplished career as a journeyman lineman. He worked for Utah Power and Light, where he not only mastered his trade but also rose through the ranks to become a manager—a testament to his strong work ethic, leadership, and deep knowledge of the field.
Fred’s life was marked by quiet service, whether to his country, his coworkers, or his community. He will be remembered for his integrity, humility, and the steady way he approached every challenge.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Fred is survived by his wife Linda, son Chris, daughter Jennie, and grandchildren Derek, Michael, Alex, Conner, and Anubis Powell.
Graveside services will be held at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
