Cosmo’s Corner: This cat went a-walking

Buenos días y miau amigos. It’s your pal, Cosmo the library cat con una buena noticia–with good news!

It’s almost time for another bilingual storytime at the library! Join us on Friday, May 17 at 2:30 p.m. to listen to “I Went Walking”/”Salí de Paseo,” by Sue Williams.

The story follows a child who goes for a walk and encounters a bunch of different animals along the way: a horse, a cow, a duck, a pig, a dog, and most importantly, a cat. By the end of the book, all the animals are following the child in a fun impromptu parade.

Except for the cat of course. No self-respecting cat would join an animal parade, no matter how cute. Cats are not followers; it is merely a coincidence that the cat appears to be walking in the same direction and speed as the rest of the characters. The cat has an agenda of its own. I’d say more but the feline code of silence prohibits it.

After the story, we will sing some songs about animals and everyone will also get a chance to make a paper bag animal puppet to take home.

Our bilingual storytimes are a partnership between the library and the Moab Valley Multicultural Center. This one will be at the Moab Library on Friday, May 17 at 2:30 p.m.  Hope to see you there!
