In Memory Of Sharon Cora McClellan

August 29, 1935 – January 25, 2024

Our beloved and cherished Sharon Cora McClellan—a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother—passed away on January 25, 2024, peacefully at 88 years old, surrounded by her loved ones.

Sharon was born on August 29, 1935, in Brigham City, Utah, to Howard and Evadine Sorensen. She was raised in Willard, Utah, and graduated from Box Elder High School. On December 4, 1953, she married the love of her life, Alton ‘Ray’ McClellan, in Brigham City. They built a life full of memories in Malad, Idaho, where they spent the better part of 50 years together.

Sharon dedicated years of her working career to the Thiokol Chemical Company, the U.S. Forest Service, and later found fulfillment working at U.S. Bank until her well-deserved retirement. Her strong work ethic, kindness, and warmth earned her the affection of all who knew her. Sharon found joy in simple pleasures, such as baking, shopping, sewing, gardening, and enjoying time with friends, and she had a special affinity for all things glitter. She especially enjoyed her second home in Overton, Nevada, where they had close friends and many good times.

Family was at the center of her world. She was a loving mother to her four daughters, Becky, Paula, Jackie, and Melissa; her 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, whom she affectionately called “Tiger Joes” or “Susie Qs.”

In celebrating her life, we wish to remember her warmth, laughter, and love that touched the hearts of those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of family, memories, and a reminder to find joy in life’s simple pleasures. There will never be another person who can say “Yessy, yes” quite like her. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Sharon is survived by her four daughters, Becky (Gary) Barnes, Paula (Joe) Love, Jackie (Ralph) Jenson, and Melissa Chasel; her 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She will be greeted by her loving husband, Ray; her brother, Gary Sorensen; granddaughter, Amanda Jones; grandson, Zachary Jenson; and great-granddaughters, Kelsi Carter and Zoey Jenson.

Services were held on Tuesday, January 30 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel (634 E. 200 South, Brigham City, UT). She was laid to rest at the Willard City Cemetery, next to her beloved husband, Ray, with a view of the mountains that she greatly admired.
