Dear Editor,
I have noticed articles and letters to the editor lately in which people are commenting on use of culinary water by the oil & gas & potash industries. Please follow up your article about Fidelity Exploration & Production Co., which mentioned their water use with some information about water-use by the tourism industry. For example, what is the projected water-use for the new motel and what are water consumption rates for existing motels, restaurants, campgrounds, etc.? What is the increase in water consumption by businesses from December to May?
I am a Moab resident of 9 years and a self-employed geologist working on Fidelity’s project, not an employee of Fidelity. My co-workers and I are all extremely happy that we do not have to try to live on the poverty level wages typical of tourism jobs.
