Hello, everyone! This is Cosmo, the Library Cat. I’m here today to let you know that this summer things are going to get wild! Our library’s Summer Challenges start on June 1 and this year’s theme is Tails & Tales – Animals!
The Grand County Public Library has a summer challenge for every age from newborn kittens to grandma and grandpa cats. The animal-filled fun kicks off this Saturday, May 29 at 10:30 a.m. with a virtual concert by the band Animal Farm live-streaming on the library’s Facebook page.
Animal Farm will treat us to an interactive and energetic concert blending music, educational comedy and storytelling! The band’s original songs draw from a range of influences, including rock, jazz, folk, Klezmer, Afro-pop, Latin, and Tin Pan Alley. Their songs explore themes of social and emotional learning, community, and self-expression through the eyes of our furry, feathered, scaly and shell-dwelling friends. This concert is geared towards toddler to early elementary school age, but all ages enjoy Animal Farm’s music. Animal Farm describes their music as “Grown-up music for kids” so make sure to have an instrument or some pots and pans handy so you can jam along with Farmer Dave.
Can’t watch it on May 29? Don’t worry! A recording will remain available on the library’s Facebook page for three weeks afterward for on-demand viewing. Tune in at www.facebook.com/GrandCountyPublicLibrary.
