The Grand boys track team won the state title, scoring 115.5 points to beat second-place Delta with 87 points. The boys track team had top scorers in every event, with the exception of just one race. Grand senior Brayden Schultz won first-place in the high jump at 6 feet, 5 inches — the competition was his second track meet ever. For the girls team, Grand placed third at the state competition with 52.1 points. The girls team was anchored by junior Veda Gritts, who made the podium (top six) in all three throwing events, and freshman Kylah Ricks, who scored in all three distance running events. The state competition was held at Brigham Young University in Provo. See page 16 for full story. [Photo courtesy of RaeLynn Mason]
