Bill Cobler, from Holladay, came in first place overall at the Canyonlands Other Half Marathon on Sunday, Oct. 14, with a time of 1:23:49. Caitlin Braithwaite, from Salt Lake City, finished in second place overall and first in the women’s category. Braithwaite finished with a time of 1:26:11. The 13.1-mile race started at Dewey Bridge and ended at Sorrel River Ranch. Started in 2004 as a fall companion to the popular Canyonlands Half Marathon, this road half-marathon race will be renamed as the Arches Half Marathon beginning next year. The event’s organizer, Justin Ricks, said the marathon race course has better views than that of the Canyonlands Half Marathon, and expects the new name to help draw in more competitors.
