The Moab Healthcare Foundation recently received two donations that will benefit local residents, the foundation announced in a press release on Oct. 25.
For a second time this year, these two major events, the Moab Century Tour, owned by Skinny Tire Events, and the Red Rock 4-Wheelers, directed $2,735 and $2,000, respectively, to help local health care organizations.
“A portion of every registration is a donation to the people of Moab,” said Mark Griffith, owner of Skinny Tire Events. “Every cyclist appreciates the opportunity to be in Moab, to experience this beautiful area, and they give back by supporting the health care needs of people who live here.”
Griffith added, “Our donation to the foundation will primarily support the infusion therapy center at Moab Regional Hospital; however, we trust the foundation to look at other needs in the community and to use the money where it is needed the most.”
The Red Rock 4-Wheelers included the Moab Healthcare Foundation in their annual giving to a variety of local organizations and agencies.
The American Cancer Society recently partnered with the Moab Healthcare Foundation to present “A Reel Taste of Moab.” The Taste of Moab featured food, entertainment and a silent auction and a portion of the proceeds go toward helping patients with transportation costs when seeking treatment outside of Moab. The foundation has partnered with the American Cancer Society to administer this program and will be the recipient of a portion of the funds.
The Moab Healthcare Foundation is dedicated to supporting local health care organizations that provide exceptional care for the residents of the Moab region.
The board developed a fundraising strategy to support Grand County Hospice, Canyonlands Care Center, Moab Free Health Clinic, Moab Regional Hospital, Grand County Search and Rescue and Grand County EMS. If other health care organizations or needs emerge, the foundation can consider supporting those groups as well.
“Many donors would like to direct money towards health care, but don’t have the time to look into all of the needs of the different organizations,” foundation board chair Bob Jones said. “We can either earmark donations for a specific organization, or we can direct donations towards Moab Healthcare Foundation’s priority areas, depending on the donors’ preferences.”
