SUZAN MARTIN
Longtime resident Suzan Martin is a gal about town as the publisher of The Moab Star, a publication for Moab’s senior population. This year, she’s bringing her support of the senior population to a whole new level – as founder of the Moab Senior Games, a five-day activity and sport extravaganza planned for November 7-11. The event, like others of its kind across the nation, will attract active persons from throughout the region over the age of 50 to the Moab community for 13 events including basketball, swimming, track and field, horseshoes, bridge and more – lace up your sneakers and check out www.moabseniorgames.com for more information and to register.
What initially brought you to Moab?
River running.
What do you love most about living in Moab?
Small town, use of the creative side of life and, of course, the red cliffs and the river.
What do you dislike about living in Moab?
High prices and small groups of people that are not elected officials that own the government here.

If you could have any job in the world, what would you most like to do?
Retire

That I’m shy.
Describe a typical day in your life.
I’m up at 6:30 a.m. and on the computer or out the door by 8 a.m. to sell advertising and gather photos and articles for the paper or figuring out what I need to do next to make the Moab Senior Games successful.

Doing something relaxing, creative, fun, and hopefully, useful.
What are your favorite pastimes (hobbies)?
Travel, travel, travel.
What do you consider your greatest achievement in life?
Motherhood
Truth? Or dare?
Truth. Because it works for all occasions.
Where can the best cup of coffee in town be found?
In my kitchen.
What superhero power would you most like to have?
The power of peace.
What is your all time favorite movie?
Don’t have one, but I really like English crime and espionage movies.
And your all time favorite book?
Walt Whitman’s “Leaves of Grass.”
What is your favorite Moab activity?
Camping
