Dora Amparo Varela Winter passed away on December 17, 2025, in Moab, Utah, after a health battle.

Dora was born on February 12, 1937, to Alberto Ramon Varela and Delia Mercedes Lopez Escobar in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. She was the second of seven siblings. After graduating from high school, she worked and lived at home with her family. She became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on February 10, 1962, giving her the impetus to immigrate to the United States.

Dora married Gerald Dick Winter, a missionary she had met while still in Honduras, on July 24, 1964. Together, they had two children, Gerald Alvin Winter and Diana Alicia Winter Hannigan, and eight grandchildren: Charles Ammon Winter, Daniel Hans Winter, Sabrina Ann Winter Gese, Patria Zuleikah Walker, Ethan Alberto Winter, Olivia Nicole Walker, Luke Aaron Winter, and Winter Julia Hannigan.

Dora enjoyed taking her grandchildren to the movies, handing out candy to children, and pursuing several artistic hobbies, including painting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and crafting. She loved the Lord, serving in the temple, and her family.

Dora is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her grandson Ammom Winter, and three brothers. May she rest in peace, have a joyful reunion with her loved ones, and be received into the loving arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
