Cosmo’s Corner: Fill Your Bag with Bargain Books at the Grand County Public Library!

Attention bargain-hunters, and hello to my adoring public! Cosmo here—Library Cat extraordinaire, morale-booster, and occasional marketing director.

The latest news at Grand County Public Library is that we are gearing up for another giant, multi-day Book Sale! This one will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 20th, and will continue during regular library hours through Monday, November 24th. As with previous book sales, if you bring your own bag, you can fill it chock-full for only $1! Any size bag will do, as long as you can manage to get it out the door.

Although I’ve offered my assistance with book sale set-up, the librarians claim that my mere presence is sufficient help. Library staff and The Friends of the Library volunteers are doing all the heavy lifting, and I mean that literally. Moving hundreds of boxes full of heavy books is no small task, but these dedicated bibliophiles are determined to get these books into your hands, and they get quite an upper-body workout in the process. You’ll be doing them a significant favor by taking lots of books home with you. Plus, since the proceeds help support the library it’s a real win-win for everybody.

This whole hullabaloo will be happening in the Grand County Public Library’s large Meeting Room. Come, snag a bargain or twelve, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll catch a glimpse of me overseeing the proceedings from atop the tallest stack of bargain hardbacks. My favorite part of these book sales is watching those cardboard boxes full of books get emptier and emptier until they are once again fit for their true purpose as magical play houses for cats.

To recap: Bring your own bag to the Grand County Public Library at 257 E Center St, and fill it with books for a mere dollar on Thursday, November 20 from 1–8 p.m. Because the sale will be restocked throughout each day, you can do it again on Friday from 9 a.m.–8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.–5 p.m., and Monday from 9 a.m.–8 p.m.
