Cosmo’s Corner: Folk Tunes and Tales on Saturday, November 8

Meow and hello everyone, it’s Cosmo the Library Cat. Now, if there’s one thing I love (besides a sunbeam nap on a stack of poetry books), it’s music—especially folk music. So relatable! Before I landed at the library, I was a complete unknown. Like a rolling stone! A cat of constant sorrow, if you catch my drift.

Now, those days are behind me, and when the Moab Folk Festival rolls into town each fall and sets up across the street at the ballfields, I can’t help but twitch my whiskers and tap my paws to those sweet, soulful sounds drifting through the library windows. It’s like catnip for the ears!

So I’m especially excited to announce an event that unites two of my favorite things—folk music and the library! Singer-songwriter Emily Scott Robinson will headline a special Musical Story Hour on Saturday, November 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the Grand County Public Library.

Now, Emily—she’s the real deal. Born and raised in North Carolina and now based in Colorado, she won the Telluride Troubadour Contest in 2019 (a seriously fancy feather in any musician’s cap). Her voice? Sweeter than cream. Her songs? A beautiful blend of folk, country, and bluegrass, with lyrics spun from her own adventures and the fascinating humans she’s met along the way.

Musical Story Hour is a special collaboration between Grand County Public Library and our friends at the Moab Music Festival, with additional support from the City of Moab and the Synergy Company.

This upcoming Musical Story Hour is made possible by a special collaboration with the Moab Folk Festival. It’s free and geared for youngsters aged 0 and up and their caregivers, of course, but all ages are welcome.
