I’m writing about my experience of a near head-on collision at Arches National Park on Sunday, October 12, 2025. I hope this helps others with awareness, safety, and defensive driving.
My 89-year-old friend and I were visiting Arches, driving up the main road between Fiery Furnace and Salt Creek at the speed limit of 45 mph with six cars tailgating close behind.
All of a sudden a black car was coming toward me in my lane. Holy cow. I stopped—he was driving 60 mph passing a slow-moving RV on a curve.
Thank heaven for my intuition to stop. I credit my intuition for helping save 17+ lives from being taken to the morgue or hospital. We’re still shaking and grateful to be alive. It wasn’t our time to die or be maimed.
