Launch party for The Skybound Traveler

The launch of Moabite Daniel McNeil’s Skybound Traveler Climbing Spirit Deck & Guidebook! This tarot-like set includes 52 cards beautifully illustrated by Peggy Flavin and a 120-page guidebook that offers insights and inspiration. Now it’s your chance to hear about how this deck and guidebook came to be, draw cards, enjoy sample readings, meet the author, and support the Skybound Traveler set making its way onto our shelves and into the wider world.
The 1979 Church Rock uranium tailings spill – an unrecognized disaster
When: 6 p.m.
Where: Moab Museum, 118 E Center St
In July 1979, the tailings disposal dam at United Nuclear Corporation’s Church Rock Mill breached, releasing 1,100 tons of uranium mill tailings and 94 million gallons of radioactive wastewater into the Puerco River—the nation’s largest release of radioactive material by volume. Speakers Chris Shuey and Terry Keyanna will share scientific research and personal stories of the impact on the Navajo Nation community. More info →

Fall 2025 Voucher Cleanup Program begins
When: 8 a.m. (through November 15)
Where: Moab Landfill, 1282 Sand Flats Road
Free program open to residents of Grand and San Juan County only. Each household receives one voucher for up to two cubic yards of green/yard waste, construction and demolition debris, or up to eight standard or four oversized automotive tires. Registration required.
Learn to belay class
