Downtown Moab will experience temporary street closures next Wednesday, July 30, as an as-yet unnamed Hollywood film production takes over Main Street for a morning shoot.
According to Bega Metzner, director of the Moab to Monument Valley Film Commission, filming will require closing Main Street from 100 North to 100 South, as well as Center Street from Main to South 100 East, from 5:00 a.m. to around noon. The production has requested no overnight parking on Tuesday, July 29 to prepare for the early morning shoot.
While Main Street businesses will remain open to customers, pedestrians without a specific reason to be in the area may want to plan an alternate route, Metzner noted to the Moab Sun News.
While the Film Commission is keeping the movie’s title under wraps until filming wraps due to non-disclosure agreements, the production reportedly chose Moab as the only US location for the film. The production represents another major Hollywood project choosing Moab’s iconic red rock landscape as a backdrop — recent films shot in the area include Marvels Thunderbolts*, Wild Horse Nine and Horizon: an American Saga chapters 1 and 2.
The Film Commission asks for the community’s “patience, support and understanding” during the brief disruption.
