November 19, 1957 – July 9, 2025
Sadly, our beloved Debra Kay (Purcell) Perkins passed away peacefully in her home from complications of diabetes on the evening of July 9, 2025. She was 67.
Debra was born on November 19, 1957, to James and Era Purcell in Monticello, but grew up in Moab. She was an artist at heart and found beauty in everyday moments of life. Her deep love for animals and her gentle, creative spirit touched everyone who knew her.
Debra lived her faith quietly but deeply and was a faithful and loyal friend to many. After receiving her degree in accounting, she worked in that field for many years, but her heart was in woodworking and restoring antiques. She enjoyed bringing old wooden furniture back to life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Era Purcell, and her sister, Shelly Marie. Debra leaves behind the love of her life and husband of 51 years, Kenneth Perkins; her daughter, Season (Micah) Hatcher; her sisters, Leslie (Greg) Balling and Charlotte (Dave) Gary; her three nieces, Angela Phillips, Candice Gary, and Megan Gary; and her nephew, Cameron Phillips.
Debra had a big personality in a small package. She was courageous, inspirational, kind, loving, funny, and full of joy. She lived her life to the fullest, despite her many challenges. Her greatest joys and accomplishments were the love of her husband and the gift of being a mom to Season. She will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and the way she made everyone feel loved and seen. Her family and friends will carry her memory in their hearts always.
A gathering will be held later to celebrate her life. In place of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local animal shelter in her honor.
