Body of missing Texas man found months after Moab flood

The body of a Texas man who went missing during heavy rainfall and flash flooding last summer near Moab has been located, authorities confirmed.

Ray Ankofski, 58, disappeared on June 21, 2024, while off-roading with his wife, Maranda, on the Steel Bender trail in Grand County. The couple never returned home, prompting an extensive multi-day search. Maranda Ankofski, 50, was found deceased on July 22.

On March 26, 2025, Ray Ankofski’s remains were discovered along the Colorado River in neighboring San Juan County, 36 miles from where the couple’s UTV was found, according to a statement from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office.

No further details have been released as investigations continue.
