Meow and hello, tastemakers, trendsetters, and library patrons! Cosmo the Library Cat here once again with the column everyone has been waiting for: Cosmo’s Annual In and Out List. So what’s in for Spring 2025 at the Grand County Public Library? Glad you asked!

Out: Minimalism. Say goodbye to greys, neutrals, and negative space.
In: Maximalist decor. Check out the library children’s room for an object lesson in Spring’s hottest trend. There are paper flowers on every wall, hot air balloons, clouds and jellyfish hanging from the ceiling, and of course plenty of opportunities for kids to make their own flower crafts.
Out: Rolling in bare dirt.
In: Napping in the flowers in the library courtyard. The subtle floral aromas cling to the fur and are truly rejuvenating. You may also prefer to look at the flowers with your eyes in lieu of rolling in them. You do you.
Out: Starting a podcast with just a phone and an idea.
In: Making your own professional-quality audio recordings with the library’s digital recording kit. Our “Library of Things” also includes blood pressure monitoring kits, RF detectors, mini projectors, puzzles, and more. These items circulate just like a book–check them out with your library card!
Out: Squash beetles, fungus gnats and tomato fruitworms.
In: Getting ahead of the gardening game with the library’s extensive collection of gardening books. Our books on flowers, vegetables, xeriscaping and more, are sure to answer your burning horticultural questions and set you on the path to a thriving garden!
Out: Ankle socks.
In: Crew socks. And cats with any socks whatsoever are always cool, needless to say.
Meow for now, friends! !
