In memory of Roberto P. Lovato

April 24, 1949 – September 16, 2024

Roberto P. Lovato was born on April 24, 1949, to Melicendro and Cidelia Lovato in Sante Fe, New Mexico, and left this earthly world on September 16, 2024, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman and loved venturing into his vast backyard. He was an excellent golfer; the Moab Golf Course was his second home. He won many tournaments through the years and gained many friends. Bob excelled in high school sports, winning a state title in track and a full scholarship to the College of Eastern Utah.

He learned about work at a young age, working alongside his dad for Redd Ranches in LaSal, Utah. He worked in the mines and the oilfield, eventually landing a job as an electrician for the

National Park Service, retiring in 2017, after 23 years of service. He was also a veteran serving in the U.S. Army from August 1969 to May 1971.

Bob married Linda Halverson in May 1968 and along came their son Robby Joe on December 30, 1970. They later divorced. Then Bob met Laurie Victor and they had a 13-year relationship before it ended. He later married Naomi Gail Adkins and along came two beautiful daughters, Anastasia and Sophia. They also later divorced. Bob entered into a relationship with Colene Christensen Terwilleger and remained in that relationship for 27 years until his passing.

He is survived by his son, Robby (Julie) of Moab, Utah; daughters, Anastasia and Sophia of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; and acquired sons, Richard Christensen (Miya), Dale and Pete Terwilleger of Moab, Utah; sisters, Mary Madrid of Cortez, Colorado, Prescilla Lopez of Loma, Colorado; and brother, Mike (Rose) Lovato of Greenriiver, Wyoming; and by 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents, his sisters, Olympia Martinez and Diana Moquino; brothers, Alfred and Victor Lovato; and granddaughter, Emma Christensen.

He is now resting in peace free of pain and will be greatly missed by many.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, September 24 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Moab. Friends and family are invited to share tributes online at www.SpanishValleyMortuary.com
