Woman dies while hiking to Delicate Arch

The National Park Service reported that a 58-year-old woman visiting Moab from St. George, Utah, died on the trail to Delicate Arch in Arches National Park on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 20.

Rangers received a call about a woman in distress and CPR in progress. Emergency medical personnel responded, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The Grand County Sheriff’s Office and the National Park Service are investigating this incident.

While iconic, the trail to Delicate Arch is 3 miles long and moves up a steep slickrock slab with no shade that can be challenging, particularly in high temps.
