Search and Rescue aids canyoneer caught by hair outside Moab

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue and Grand County EMS headed to the Bow and Arrow canyoneering route down Potash Road outside of Moab on May 20, as storm clouds rolled in to the area.

A woman running the route had been descending the canyoneering route when her hair was caught inside her rappelling device, stranding her on the rope. By the time crews arrived, the woman had been lowered to stable ground by her companions and paramedics were able to treat her injuries.

“GCSAR set up a technical lowering system,” an official statement on the rescue reads. “Once the patient was stabilized in a litter, GCSAR navigated her through a multistage, complex rope system amidst challenging windy and rainy conditions.”
