Staff at Margaret L. Hopkin Middle School announced that Shycee Hatathley and Jacklyn Shumway are honored as this month’s students of the month.
Seventh-grader Shycee Hatathley is always pleasant and respectful, which her teachers and peers greatly appreciate. Her outstanding work ethic is evident in the quality of her assignments, which she completes with pride. She focuses and stays on-task during independent work time. Shycee likewise participates in class by working well in groups as well as with partners. Furthermore, Shycee’s accomplishments are not just limited to the classroom: she made a fantastic and memorable Mufasa in the Lion King dance production showing her personality and athletic talents! Shycee’s favorite color is red and she loves any pasta. Her favorite sports are basketball, softball, and dance. Shycee has five pets: three dogs and two cats, and she has one little brother at home. She loves both the winter and summer seasons. Her advice to others: “Work hard at the things you’re passionate about!”
Eighth-grader Jacklyn Shumway is a great example of what a student of the month should be. She has a quiet, kind nature. She independently works on the task at hand without drawing attention to herself. Jacklyn is always ready with an insightful comment or answer and helps build momentum in class discussions and she will be brave and share her thoughts or read aloud. She has amazing manners and is always ready for class with a polite greeting. Jacklyn really improves the class environment. She also greets staff each morning with a smile. Jacklyn loves to read during her free time and her favorite place is home. She loves to learn and to play games. Jacklynn loves eating food and will eat anything sweet! Her advice to her classmates: “When you’re feeling sorry for yourself, do something for someone else.”
