Staff at Margaret L. Hopkin Middle School announced their January students of the month: seventh-grader Lev Jones and eighth-grader Emory Martinez!
The seventh-grade Student of the Month is Lev Jones. Lev has greatly impressed his teachers and is well-respected by his peers. He consistently takes his studies seriously, works hard in class, and turns assignments in on time. Teachers say that he asks interesting questions and makes unique observations, reflecting his engagement in his education. Moreover, Lev is always willing to work with any of his classmates. His maturity contributes to classroom activities and lessons. Lev’s academic success is matched by his dedication to, and enjoyment of, sports. Lev is currently on the basketball team and also plays baseball and soccer. His favorite color is baby blue and his favorite food is pizza. Lev likes to write and to play sports. He also likes to go hiking and climbing. His advice to others: “Be kind to others!”
The eighth-grade Student of the Month is Emory Martinez. Emory is quietly competent: he goes about his work diligently with great attention to detail and precision. He cares deeply about his understanding and being thorough. He has been involved in Math Club and shows deep thinking and great problem-solving skills both independently and in small groups. Also, Emory’s work in science is articulate and shows true understanding. Emory is an accomplished cross-country runner and won his age category in the recent Winter Sun 10k race in Moab. He likes mountain biking and white water rafting. He also likes skiing and knee boarding. Emory likes the Captain Ahab trail and likes getting lots of sleep. He has amazing potential, he will do great things in the future! Emory’s advice to others: “Be brave!”
