Edith Irmgard Beeson, 88, of Moab, passed away on January 1, 2024.
Edith was born on July 15, 1935, in Königsberg, Prussia. Edith’s family fled Prussia to Germany when she was a small child. Edith and her family stayed, fought, and survived in Germany’s darkest era. Edith was a private individual who did not speak of Germany very often, but she remembered her family there fondly and missed them.
Edith met and married her second husband (Robert Muir) in Berlin, Germany, while he was assigned to the US Army. They had a child (her second) while in Berlin. Her husband’s profession in the military directed their family’s life to reside in several different states and countries across the world. During these years she spent her time water skiing, camping, fishing, and because she had a natural gift for numbers, she worked in various business office settings.
Edith concluded that her marriage was no longer beneficial and decided to embark on the next step of her journey, in which she separated from her second husband. Eventually, she crossed paths with her dear beloved, Mark. Edith married Mark Beeson on January 29, 1994. Mark and Edith resided in Moab for the early part of their marriage, then moved to Monticello and later to Cortez. They returned to Moab in 2021, for the remainder of her life.
Mark and Edith enjoyed the great outdoors. They spent as much time as possible camping, fishing, and dancing. Edith loved red roses, a flavorsome sweet treat, and her two dogs, Cookie and Zoe. Edith was predeceased by her father and son (names unknown). Edith is survived by her husband, Mark Beeson; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert & Sherl Muir; and a handful of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other beloved relatives.
A graveside service will be held at Grand Valley Cemetery on January 6, at 1 P.M.
