Greetings and salutations from your pal Cosmo the Library Cat. Against my better feline judgment, I’m inviting you to a library program that makes me feel a bit squeamish: “All Together With Slime.”
Slime! I can’t stand the stuff. It is, in a word, slimy! As you know, we cats have very high standards of personal grooming. You think I’d let that slippery-slimy goo anywhere near my thick, lustrous coat? It’d take hours for me to restore my refulgent shine to acceptable levels. To say nothing of my enviable whiskers!
Still, I know you kids love playing with slime, and I bet you’d have fun making your own. And that’s what you’ll be doing at this program. Mixing, stirring, experimenting, and taking home actual slime. I warn you, if you attend this program, the risk of touching oozy, gooey slime is incredibly high.
But as a personal recommendation, have you ever experienced the simple pleasures of an extended dust bath? It’s kind of the opposite of slime. Picture this: you find a nice, warm patch of dirt that’s bathed in a glorious sunbeam. You flop right down and roll around! Dirt covers your whole body. Your tail swishes back and forth, churning up more dust until you are covered in it, all the way up to your ears. You emerge from the dust cloud, give yourself a good shake and “Voila!” You are radiant, beatific even, and most importantly, dry! Doesn’t that sound better than playing with some slithery old slime? No? Oh well.
It’s my duty to inform you that this super-slimy gathering will take place on Tuesday, July 11 at 2 p.m. in Grand County Public Library’s large meeting room. Until next time!
*Disclaimer: This is the opinion of a cat. The librarians do not recommend unsupervised dust-baths for small humans. However, they do recommend playing with ooey-gooey slime.
