Obituary: John Orral Holyoak

John Orral Holyoak, 82, of Moab, Utah, passed away on March 26, 2023.

John was born on April 2, 1940, to Alvie Lloyd Holyoak and Ada Elizabeth Johnson in Moab. After John graduated from Grand County High School, he helped his dad with the family ranch. John also went to his sister and brother-in-law’s ranch in Fisher Valley to help there. Later in life, he was a custodian for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; he worked there until he retired.

John is survived by his siblings, Lloyd (Deanne) Holyoak, Colleen Taylor and Keith (Michelle) Holyoak. He was preceded in death by father, Alvie; mother, Ada; and brother-in-law, DL Taylor.

In John’s younger years he was an extra in the John Wayne movie “The Comancheros.” John loved to collect most things that people would throw out and turn them into a treasure. He loved his guns, knives, leather working and gardening. One thing that John was known for was always being there to help anyone with anything.

John loved his family more than anything and was always so invested in their lives. He was a very caring individual that had so much to give. John will be very missed by his family and friends.

We would like to thank the Canyonlands Care Center and Moab Regional Hospital for taking such good care of John towards the end of his life. His family appreciates everyone’s efforts with this hard time.

Services for John will be held on April 4 at the 4th North LDS Chapel. The viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. and services will begin at 11 a.m. Interment service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
