Approved: Spanish Valley Drive Pathway stormwater mitigation project

The commission gave staff the go-ahead to work with contractors to combine a stormwater mitigation project with the Spanish Valley Drive bikepath project. Passed unanimously.

Approved: Jerry Klaes appointed to the Grand County Planning Commission 

The Planning Commission reviewed five applicants and recommended Jerry Klaes to the County Commission for appointment. Passed unanimously.

Approved: Melisa Jeffers appointed to the Grand County Economic Development Advisory Board

The advisory board received 8 applications and voted to recommend the appointment of Melisa Jeffers to the board seat held for a member of the public that lives in Grand County. Approved 5-1, with Commissioner Bill Winfield opposed and Commissioner Mike McCurdy abstaining. 

Approved: Purchase for radios for the sheriff’s office

The commission approved a purchase order for VHF repeaters in the amount of $67,098. Funds to replace deteriorating pieces of these two-way radios have already been set aside in a grant fund. Passed unanimously 

Approved: New County Engineer position

The commission approved the creation of a new staff position for County Engineer. The approved salary range for the position would be $90,877.22-$137,459.94. Passed unanimously.

Approved: Contract with Bandwango for visitor services

The commission approved a request from the Economic Development department for a $9,500 one-year contract with the Utah-based startup Bandwango, which creates “digital passports” including coupons and other discounts for visitors. Passed unanimously.

Approved: HDHO extension for a project

The owner of the Manderfield development, a high-density housing overlay project, was granted a 1-year extension of the final plats. Passed unanimously. 

Approved: Funding the Healthy Trails Coordinator

The commission approved an agreement with the Southeast Utah Health Department that will fund the Healthy Trails Coordinator position. Passed unanimously.

Approved: Grant request for a UTV for the Motorized Trail Ambassador

The commission approved an Active Transportation and Trails Department grant application for funding to purchase a UTV and trailer for the Motorized Trail Ambassador program. Passed unanimously.
