William Lee Hamilton, 80, left this world on the morning of January 16, 2023, ending a brave battle with esophageal cancer at Moab Regional Hospital.
William was born on September 28, 1942, in Springville, Utah, to Morgan and Lois Bramall Hamilton. He was raised and educated in eastern Utah and graduated with honors from Grand County High School in 1959.
After graduation, William joined the Navy and, after serving 4 years, returned to Moab where he met and later married Lois Jean Brookshier on March 30, 1974. Together, they raised one daughter, Erin.
He worked for many years for Texas Gulf/Moab Salt until his retirement. William lived his entire life as an outdoor enthusiast. He greatly enjoyed gardening, rock hounding, hunting and was an avid hiker.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lois; his daughter, Erin; his granddaughters, Tambree, Mirinda and Seraphina; sister, Kathryn Smith of North Bend, Oregon; brother, Ted Hamilton (Rosalee) of Dove Creek, Colorado; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan Leo Hamilton and Lois Bramall Hamilton; his brother, David Morgan Hamilton; his in-laws, Bobby Gene (mother), William Lloyd (father); and his brother-in-law, Ron Brookshier.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
