It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Casey Goudswaard, age 61.
Casey was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to many. He was the son of Wout and Corrie Goudswaard.
Casey was born on January 31, 1961, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He relocated to Moab in 2007 with his then-wife, Charlynn Pogue; their daughter, Chelsea; and stepson, Timothy. He owned a rain gutter business, the Rainman, and worked in construction and maintenance toward the end of his life.
Casey was a hardworking, dedicated man with a heart of gold. He always put others before himself and was known for his generosity and compassion. He had a passion for fishing and camping, and on the weekend he would be hiking with his beloved dog Glacier or working on projects at home. Casey was also known for his goofy personality and great sense of humor. He could always be counted on to make those around him laugh and bring joy to any situation. Casey will be remembered for his warm smile, his quick wit, and his unwavering commitment to those he loved. He was a shining light in the lives of all who knew him and his memory will be cherished forever.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Char Pogue; his daughter, Chelsea Goudswaard (his sweetie); his stepson, Timothy Pogue; his sister, Ria Goudswaard; his brother, Jack Goudswaard; his beloved dog, Glacier; and many close friends. Casey was preceded in death by his parents, Wout and Corrie Goudswaard; and his siblings, Roger, Joanne Thole, Remmie, and Adrian Goudswaard.
A celebration of Casey’s life will be held on Saturday, January 7 at 2 p.m. at the Spanish Valley Mortuary (386 North 100 West). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Casey’s memory through his GoFundMe page at www.gofundme.com/f/casey-goudswaard. Thank you for your support during this difficult time.
