Obituary: Robert Leon Beeman

Robert Leon Beeman, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 81 years on Saturday, November 26, 2022.

Robert was born on December 10, 1940, in Brady, Texas, to James and Mary (Hufstutler) Beeman.

In 1959, Robert and his brothers ventured out west to Moab during the uranium boom in pursuit of employment in the drilling and mining industry. In 1963, Robert and his older brother, Horace (H.E.) Beeman, bought their first cable tool rig and partnered up to start Beeman Drilling Company. They later sold this business and each brother pursued their own separate drilling businesses.

In 1977, Robert established the Bob Beeman Drilling Company. During his 35 years of being in the drilling industry, he was known as a major employer in the Moab area.

On September 15, 1961, Robert married Sylvia Mae Gini in Moab. They were blessed with 3 sons, Bobby, Todd & Rod, who also followed their Dad’s footsteps in the drilling industry in Arizona.

Robert loved to spend time with his sons hunting, fishing and golfing, and he loved farming. But his main passion was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his father and mother, James & Mary Beeman; sisters, Fannie & Mattie; and brothers, Kenneth, Horace & Charles. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; his children, Bobby, Todd & Rod; his brother, Leo; sister, Betty; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Robert has 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Robert will forever be known as an icon in the Moab community and will forever be loved & missed by many. 

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 1 at 1 p.m. at the Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Spanish Valley Mortuary.
