Cosmo’s Corner: Afterschool clubs

Cosmo the cat is photoshopped into a pile of Legos: near him is a Lego bird, fish, and mouse.

Hello friends, it’s Cosmo with your weekly library update. One great thing about the school year starting is that there are two fun after-school clubs at the Grand County Public Library!

Lego Club happens on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.! Every week there will be a different Lego building challenge, although you are free to let your imaginations run wild and build whatever you like. After each Lego Club, you can all proudly display what you’ve constructed: There are already some pretty cool Lego creations on display in the children’s room. I’m not sure why I haven’t seen any Lego statues of everyone’s favorite library cat . . . I mean, my friend the Sphinx from Egypt got his own statue ages ago!

Speaking of other countries and their fantastic creations, our new Wonders of the World Crafternoon and Stories Club is on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.! Each week, we investigate a different country with a fun craft project and story. So far we’ve explored France and Argentina and we’re looking forward to visiting Kenya, Morocco, and South Korea. Do you think these countries have any cat statues like Egypt? I hope so.

Both these clubs are geared toward kids ages 6 to 12, but all ages are welcome. There’s no need to register, just drop in if you have the time. If I’m not too busy napping, I may join in the fun as well. It takes a lot of beauty sleep to look as good as I do. Speaking of naps, I think I hear a sunbeam calling my name. See you in the library! Over and meowt!
