In Memoriam: Edward Leonel Wade

Edward Leonel Wade, Nov. 26, 1947 – Jan. 9, 2020

Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, nephew, cousin and uncle, Edward Leonel Wade, graduated from this world on Jan. 9, 2020. He was born in Garfield, Utah on Nov. 26, 1947, to Edward A. Wade and Vesta Johnson Wade. He was the second child of eight, four girls and four boys. He grew up in Kearns, Utah, and went to Cyprus High School. He joined the Army in 1965 and went to Kitsigan, Germany. While he was in the Army, his family moved down to Moab. When he returned, he met and married Candice Lynn Adams in 1969. They moved to Salt Lake and she was killed in a car-pedestrian accident in December of that year. This accident also broke both of his legs and put him in a wheelchair for a year.

He went back to Moab and lived with his parents until he recovered and was able to walk again. He then moved back to Salt Lake. He married Yvonne Brusik in 1976. They were later divorced. He went to work for Union Pacific Railroad and worked there until he retired in 1999.

He met Linda Astin in May of 1979 and they were married in September of that year. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in August of 1985. They had four children and he adopted the two children that his wife had from her first marriage.

He loved to hunt, fish and go rock hunting. His greatest joy was his kids and grandkids. He was a wonderful husband and father. He had a great sense of humor and was loved by everyone he met. We will miss him terribly but know that we will be with him again someday.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Jeremy (Celeste); daughter, Candace Nelson; daughter, Jennifer McPherson-Liu (Chris); son, Ben; son, Chris (Oy); uncle, Milo Glen (Mavis); Aunt, Arlene Parks; sister, Susan Lisonbee (Ernie); Sister, Sally Allen (Doug); sister, Michelle Holyoak (Keith); sister, Janet Gay (Reggie); brother, Sterling (Josie); brother, Vint (Donna); nine grandchildren and various nieces and nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Shane; his son, Matt and a niece, Shasta.

A viewing will be held on Friday, Jan. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Spanish Valley Mortuary and one hour prior to the funeral service.
