The new nonprofit Full Circle Intertribal Center (FCIC) held an event at the Youth Garden Project on Nov. 9 to celebrate both Native American Heritage Month and FCIC’s birth as a nonprofit. Traditional foods were served such as mutton, ash bread and acorn dumpling soup, all by donation. FCIC reported that about 75 persons attended the event and approximately $2,000 was raised in donations as well as t-shirt sales.
“We were surprised by the amount of people and support. Truly awesome!” said FCIC Director Kristen Ramírez-Marsh, adding that the group is already planning next year’s event.
