The Grand County High School volleyball team lost to San Juan 3-0 in Blanding on Oct. 22 to end the regular season, falling to the Region 12 champion and state tourney No. 1 seed 25-21, 25-23, 25-20. The Lady Red Devils earned the No. 5 seed and a first-round bye in the UHSAA Utah State 3A Volleyball tournament at Utah Valley University in Orem, and beat Delta 3-0 in the second round on Tuesday, Oct. 29, before falling to Union 3-2 in the quarter finals. At press time, GCHS was scheduled to compete in consolation play on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The tournament is single-elimination, but losing teams keep competing to determine finishers from third through eighth place. The tournament was scheduled to culminate with the state championship match on Oct. 30.
