Moab Business Park developer Kevin Carroll died on June 30 when an airplane crashed in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park.
The accident in San Juan County also claimed the life of Jay Camberlango, 42, of Lindon.
Carroll, 53, and Lindon were the airplane’s only occupants, San Juan County officials said.
Carroll’s airplane was reported missing in Moab on Sunday, June 30, after it left around 8 a.m. but didn’t return at its noon arrival time.
Search and rescue crews found the plane about 24 hours later and personnel from the Utah Department of Public Safety hiked to the location and confirmed the two individuals on board were deceased, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office said on social media.
Carroll developed the Moab Business Park on south U.S. Highway 191 in northern San Juan County and owned and operated Carroll Drilling Co. He was an active off-road enthusiast in the community.
