The Grand County Speech and Debate team rounded out its season on March 9, placing 5th overall at the 3A State Championship held at Summit Academy. In Extemporaneous Speaking, Grand County High School senior Phillip Geiser placed 5th and senior Kai Wainer placed 3rd. Geiser also placed 3rd in Lincoln Douglas Debate. Junior Miranda Corbin placed 4th in Oratory and junior Ty Martinez placed 4th in Congress. Before qualifying for the state championship, the team placed 3rd at Regions. Martinez and Geiser also plan to compete at the national tournament this summer. [Courtesy photo]
