Matthew William Johnston was born on July 30, 1981, at Allen Memorial Hospital to Susan and Robert W. Johnston. His siblings are Timothy B. Johnston and Jennifer Johnston Rice.

Johnston was an amazing husband, father, uncle, son, cousin and friend to many. Johnston’s parents separated when he was young, and his Mom, Susan, remarried Scott Johnston who became Johnston’s dad and lifelong best friend.

Johnston graduated in 2000. He married his best friend Taylor in 2008. From that marriage came Conner, age 8, and Skyler, age 5, who were his greatest accomplishment in life. He was very passionate about the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and just having a great time with his family.

Johnston was a man of many trades, including electrician, plumber, concrete worker, gas industry; anything construction, and he could do it and do well. Recently, Johnston used those traits to build his family an amazing home.

Johnston was working at Intrepid Potash when an unexpected tragic accident ended his short life on Nov. 10, which has left a huge void in many, many people’s lives.

He is survived by his beautiful wife, Taylor Johnston; his children, Conner Alvie Johnston and Skyler Jean Johnston; mom and dad, Susan and Scott Johnston; sister Jennifer and Vance Johnston Rice; niece Maggie Rice and nephew Wyatt Rice; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

He was proceeded in death by his brother, Timothy B. Johnston; grandma and grandpa Johnston; grandma Lea Ellis; and his aunt Cary.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. at the LDS Stake Center on Locust Lane. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Johnston’s life. There will be an account set up at Mountain America Credit Union, and also a GoFundMe page.
