David L. Arthur Sr., age 73, of Montrose, passed away on May 15.
David was born on July 26, 1944, to Leonard and Helen (Tamm) Arthur in Hamilton, Montana. David married Janet Babb on August 14, 1966, in Montrose, and she preceded David in death on July 21, 2015, in Montrose. They were members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Montrose. David and Janet also resided in Moab, before moving to Montrose, where they made their home until their time of death. David was employed as a service man for natural gas for many years prior to his retirement. He also worked for Sharing Ministries and loved to spend time in the outdoors, fishing, camping, hiking and working in the garden. David knew the Lord and this was very important to him and his family. The Bible verse John 3:16 was his favorite: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him, shall not perish but have eternal life.” One of the first Bible verses children learn is John 3:16 as it carries the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. David was known as a kind and generous man. He knew no strangers and was a friend to all he met.
Survivors include his son, David L. Arthur Jr., of Bullhead City, Arizona; daughters Danace Arthur and Deana Sanchez both of Grand Junction, Colorado; brothers, John Arthur of Casa Grande, Arizona, and Pat Arthur of Ordway, Colorado; one sister, Ella Booth of Grand Junction, Colorado; five grandchildren: Kendra, Joel, Tori, Davanna and Cody; and three great-grandchildren: Allyson, Peyton and Xavier. David was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, and brother, Roy Arthur.
A gathering and celebration of his life was held on Saturday, May 19, at his home in Montrose with Doug Carroll officiating. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose assisted the family.
