Representatives from social service and law enforcement agencies joined local residents in front of the Grand County Courthouse for the Planting of the Pinwheels.
The Grand County Family Support Center at the Christmas Box House event was the kickoff for April Prevention of Child Abuse Month, a month of campaigning and building community awareness about the prevention of child abuse and neglect for Grand and San Juan counties.
Attendees included Sherilyn Sowell, Jenny McDougall and Corina Spence from the Family Support Center; Phil Mosher and Brandon McGuffee from the Moab Valley Fire Department; Nate Whitney from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office; Jerry Pruitt from the Department of Workforce Services; Merlina Lopan and Lenissa Jimenez from the Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments; Gwen Welch and Cheryl Stewart from the Division of Child and Family Services; Mallory Nassau and Tona Lisa Hill from the Department of Human Services’ System of Care; Brittney Bastian and Ashley Hoggard from Grand County Emergency medical Services; and Joel Redd from the Utah Foster Care Foundation.
