Sincerity is a rare trait, and I never met anyone who embodied it more than Ken Davey. He made it possible to feel entirely comfortable being yourself, and he would make you feel like your best self. He championed the people around him – raised them up and made them feel special, important, capable and cared for. He was unassuming, but the profound effect he had on his friends speaks to the greatness and capacity of his spirit.
I will miss his wit, his soft jabs and warm compliments, his lighthearted sarcasm, his intelligence, his open-mindedness, and most of all his fondness for the people of all backgrounds and perspectives and walks of life in this community. He challenged me, he encouraged me and he told me I was wrong when I needed to hear it. His friendship made me a better person, and I am grief-stricken that he is gone.
Ken, the world is a little less bright without you, and Moab will never be the same. But in little moments, friendships you inspired, laughs and cries we will have in your memory, and in the very being of this place, I know you’ll live on. Take care my friend. Carry on.
