BLM to offer 43 parcels at quarterly lease sale

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will offer 43 parcels, totaling approximately 51,401 acres in Grand and San Juan counties, at its March 2018 quarterly oil and gas lease sale. The BLM will hold the lease sale online at www.energynet.com.

“BLM continues to support a balanced approach to energy exploration and working landscapes on public lands,” Acting Canyon County District Manager Gary Torres said. “We carefully considered comments from the public and our partners in developing the list of parcels and resource protection measures for this lease sale.”

Each lease, if issued, would have environmental protection stipulations included in the lease, and an additional environmental review would take place at the application for permit to drill stage, where site-specific conditions of approval would be placed on the permit, in addition to the lease stipulations.

The public may protest any of the parcels being offered in the sale until Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018. Protests must be submitted to the BLM Utah State Office, 440 W. 200 South, Suite 500, Salt Lake City, UT 84101, or faxed to Sheri Wysong at 801-539-4237. The Environmental Assessment and Determination of NEPA Adequacy, lists and maps of the parcels and the attached stipulations are online at: http://go.usa.gov/xnZ76 and http://go.usa.gov/xnZ7A.
