Kalan Bowden is Helen M. Knight Elementary’s Student of the Month.
Kalan is a fourth-grade student in Mrs. Pem Fowler’s class. He is the son of Kevin and Crystal Bowden.
Fowler said that Kalan works consistently well in each academic area, always taking his time to relate what he knows in good detail.
“His competitive nature helps him to succeed in his school work,” she said. “At the beginning of the year, Kalan seemed a bit hesitant to share ideas in the classroom, and as the year has progressed, he has become more of a risk taker. He also will help lead the class in some very thoughtful discussions.”
Fowler said that she admires Kalan’s gentle spirit.
“He is a willing and kind helper in the classroom, particularly for those with special needs,” she said. “I can always count on Kalan to be doing the right thing at the right time, and he is an excellent role model for his peers. Kalan brightens my day and our entire classroom. It is a privilege to have him in my class!”
