Eric Bjornstad

Our beloved father, Eric Bjornstad passed, on the 17th of December 2014 in Moab.

Eric grew up in California and had lived in Moab for the past 45 years. Best known as a legendary climber and climbing author, Eric was also a prolific poet, classical musician of piano and oboe, a classical music lover, a bibliophile and primarily self-taught with a beastly intellect and a photographic memory.

Eric was a genuine man’s man, a dedicated Casanova and a generous soul full of love and complexity. Eric loved Christmas, anything chocolate, and he worshipped his dogs, Queequeg and Harvard, whom he took every day at noon to the river so they could have a swim.

Eric is survived by five children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Eric Bjornstad lived for 80 years, followed his passion and touched many lives. Father Eric, we miss you, we love you and we thank you.
