February 1, 1937 – June 19, 2025

Glen LeRoy Richeson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, coach, and community leader, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, in Moab, Utah, at the age of 88.

Glen was born on February 1, 1937, in Trinidad, Colorado, to LeRoy Richeson and Mary Etta Abbott. He pursued his education at Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado, earning a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and a teaching certificate—an early step in what would become a life devoted to youth, sports, and service.

In 1959, Glen and his wife, Patricia, made their home in Moab, where they spent 65 wonderful
years together. He was a proud father of five children: Rob Richeson, Brent Richeson (Tammie), Mike
Richeson (Brenda), Shauna Richeson Hopper (Obby), and Mark Richeson (Lisa). Their family grew to
include ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.

Glen dedicated much of his life to Grand County High School, where he taught and coached multiple
sports, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students and athletes. Beyond the classroom and the field, he served as an EMT and volunteered countless hours on the local ambulance service. He was also active member of the Shriners, Elks Club and Rotary Club.

A true community builder, Glen was instrumental in the construction and management of the local ballpark, nurturing a thriving sports culture in Moab. His passion for golf led him to become the local golf pro, where he played a key role in transforming the town’s original 9-hole course into a beautifully redesigned 18-hole facility. His vision and leadership helped establish the golf course’s outstanding reputation, one that continues to this day.

Glen will be remembered for his dedication, generosity, sense of humor, a great laugh and deep love for his family and community. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the places he helped shape.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on August 9th at 3:00 PM at the Moab Valley Inn.

Family and friends are invited to share tributes and memories online at SpanishValleyMortuary.com.
