Kenneth Dale Grawet was born to Bonnie Jean and Ray Cerial Grawet on September 13, 1947. He was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, and his heart remained there for his whole life. His family moved to Denver in 1963 for his junior year of high school.
He met the love of his life, Linda Lee Roemer, while they were working at a Denver Checker Auto in 1975. They wed on Valentine’s Day 1976 and moved to Moab in 1979. Throughout their marriage they had 3 daughters: Melissa Jean, Patricia Michelle and Stephanie Ray-Ed.
Ken passed away unexpectedly in his home in Moab on May 28, 2025. He was 77 years old.
Ken was known for his loving, generous spirit, strong work ethic and his exceptional sense of humor. He thoroughly enjoyed teasing and making fun of his daughters. He had a great love for books and history as well as British comedy. But above all, it was his grandkids that were his greatest joy.
Ken’s professional life was deeply rooted in Moab, where he initially moved to manage Yellow Front/Checker Auto. After the store’s closure in 1990, he briefly relocated to Denver but the allure of small-town life in Moab beckoned him back. He then took on a role managing multiple hotels for the Wang family and Quintstar, where he worked for the majority of his life.
Family was the cornerstone of Ken’s life. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Linda; daughters, Missy (Brandon), Tricia, and Stephanie (Jesse); and his mother, Bonnie Jean Grawet. He was a cherished grandfather to Brendan, Justin, Bailey, Brianna, Madison (Race), Xander, Riley, Logan, Jesse, Xoe, and Conor; and a beloved great-grandfather to Beckham and Jameson. His siblings—Bob, Gord, and Kathy—also survive him, as well as 7 lovely nieces. Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, Ray, and his little brother, Jimmy.
A celebration of life will be held on June 21 from 11 am to 3 pm at Old City Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions of Lego sets and books are welcomed to continue Ken’s legacy of generosity towards his beloved grandchildren.
Ken’s life was a testament to the joy of giving and the strength of family bonds. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those who loved him.
