Hello friends, it’s Cosmo the Library Cat with your weekly update. If you’ve been searching for something interesting to do during these long winter days, Grand County Public Library has several fun clubs for all ages.

Our In Stitches: Fiber Arts Club is for all ages and abilities and meets Mondays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The club is starting with knitting and will progress to other types of fiber arts projects depending on interest. Bring your existing projects or come ready to learn to knit. The library will provide the supplies: you bring the creativity and conversation. It’s been months since I’ve chased a yarn ball under a table, so I hope club attendees are a little on the clumsy side. Be prepared to surrender any balls of dropped yarn to your resident library cat.
We are all pretty excited about Critter Club, led by Miss Linda, a retired zoo educator. Miss Linda has had a long career working at several famous zoos, and will be sharing her special knowledge about all kinds of animals! Starting on February 4, Critter Club will be held on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This club is geared towards children ages 8 to 12, but all ages are welcome. I wonder if she’s ever met a tiger?
We have the ever-popular LEGO Engineering Afterschool Club on Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thanks to generous donations, the library has a vast collection of LEGOs in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, so there’s all sorts of things you can create with them. There’s a different engineering challenge each week, although you can let your imagination run wild and build whatever you’d like. For example, two youngsters at a recent club created stunning renditions of yours truly, entirely out of black and white LEGO bricks. It’s always an honor to inspire the next generation of artists. (Does that make me their “mews”?)
Finally, we have All Aboard! Afterschool Board Game Club on Fridays from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Bring your favorite board game or try something new from the library’s collection. Personally, I love checkers, particularly against an unhurried opponent. If you see me curled up by the board with my eyes closed, I’m not napping; I’m in deep focus, visualizing three moves ahead. King me!
Look for all these great clubs in the Moab Library’s Large Meeting Room. Hope to see you there!
